Homemade Biscuits

We are becoming more health conscious not only for the people in our families, but our pets as well. After the major dog food recall in 2007, many of us started exploring options that would give us back control over the safety and healthfulness of the food we feed our dogs.

This site aims to offer you reviewed resources that will help you make the best decision for increasing your pet’s quality of life through their food. There are many ways to do this:
– purchasing higher quality dry food
– cooking balanced food at home either to replace the dry food or enhance it
– adding raw food either as a complete diet or additional benefit

I realized that my dog, Buster, really enjoyed raw vegetables when he was still a puppy. His favorite vegetable is butternut squash followed closely by zuccini. Of course I found this out by accident when I was cutting it up in the kitchen one day, dropped some on the floor and he got to try it. After that, every time I bring a butternut sqash home from the market he gets excited.

Just like people, not all dogs like all things their bodies are capable of eating. If your dog doesn’t like the first recipe or fresh vegetable you try to give them, keep trying. I know a dog who will do anything for a piece of carrot, while Buster just sniffs them and walks away. Dogs are individals as well, work with your dog and they will let you know in their own way what they prefer and what they do not care for.

Always remember that just becuase your dog likes something, it is not necessarily good for them! Chocolate, avocados, onions and other “people” food can make your dog very sick. This is why it is always important to keep your vet aware of the foods you are feeding your dog as well.
